Dado Coffee Table

Dado was an experiment of found objects. Using materials that were left over from other projects with as little modification from their original state as possible, a coffee table was created. The legs are altered balusters which have ¾” dado grooves cut into them, an ideal connection to the found pine board. The balusters have been cut down without compromising their intricacy. The table top is stained a wildly bright blue with aniline dye. This piece combines elements of traditional carving with an unexpected connection detail and bright color to bring it to life.

This project was done in collaboration with Sushir Kadidal.
